The witch hysteria of 1692 began in Salem, Massachusetts and quickly spread to other nearby towns and villages. Although people were accused and executed in multiple locations, this period is collectively referred to as the “Salem Witch Trials.” Accusations of witchcraft gripped the population from January 1692 and continued for a year, resulting in the execution of twenty individuals and over two hundred more suffering in horrific conditions in prison. Come learn about this pivotal time in history and how it fits into the broader context of the colonial era.
