Barn History and Preservation with Jan
Class | This class is completed
A barn is more than wood and nails – it is a community fixture filled with a rich history. A growing awareness of both the beauty and the tragedy of heritage barns has attracted the attention of many, but what people often don't know is just how truly extraordinary these structures are, why they were built as they were, and why it is so essential that we make greater efforts to save them. Join “The Barn Lady" Jan Corey Arnett, as she shares her passions for barns and their preservation, as well as why it’s important to keep each barn’s unique story alive for all to see and experience. Students will have the opportunity to visit a one-of-a-kind barn tree sculpture, take a self-guided tour to some fascinating barns in the greater Battle Creek area, view an array of images and barn-related items, and even enjoy music written expressly in honor of barns.
