Glacier National Park, located in northwest Montana, is home to glaciers, grizzly bears, jaw-dropping mountain landscapes, sacred lands and 1 million acres of rugged wilderness. Join Battle Creek resident Eric Greene, who formerly lived in Montana and who has explored and enjoyed Glacier National Park many times over the past 20 years, as he tells some of the tales of this national treasure. Topics will include the ongoing influence of Native American residents of the region, development of the park by railroad barons in the early 1900s, what it’s like to drive the famous Going to the Sun Road, the thrill of hiking on a mountainside in a lightning storm, how long until the remaining glaciers melt, precautions for backpacking in bear country and tips for traveling to and through Glacier. Also, Eric will share numerous photographs and artifacts from his trips into the popular and remote parts of the park.
