These seminars are designed to meet the Core Teaching Standards for the initial license of Special Educator in Vermont.

Year Two Seminar Sequence: Click View Schedule Above for Dates

(Seminar D) Instructional Planning: Technology-Math-Science-Global Citizenship
This seminar will provide opportunities to explore, research, collaborate and plan for teaching in the areas of math, science, technology, and global and digital citizenship. 

(Seminar E) Instructional Planning: Literacy and Language 
This seminar will provide opportunities to explore, research, collaborate and plan for teaching in the areas of literacy and language.

(Seminar F) General Laws, Policy, Regulations, Completion of Portfolio
This seminar will focus on preparing candidates for their student teaching experience. Attention will be focused on putting all the pieces of their licensure program into place and into practice. Candidates will concentrate on being prepared for teaching within a school system and adhering to the ethics, policies and procedures that are expected of Vermont’s teachers.

 

  • Except for the first meeting in July, seminars will be held virtually (synchronously). The virtual seminars are held for two hours, twice a month. The cohort as a group may decide to occasionally meet in person or to change the delivery of the instruction (use of mixed formats, alternative scheduling, etc.).

Kathy Christy, M.Ed., has over 35 years of experience working in public schools as an elementary school teacher, literacy coach and professional development facilitator. She has a wealth of experience providing professional development in a variety of settings at school, district, and collegiate levels. Kathy is passionate about supporting students and adults in their quest for excellence in literacy development and instruction.
