This course will provide professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to be prepared to teach injury and violence prevention in elementary and secondary health education programs. Emphasis is on developing a deep understanding of mental health concepts, the impact of trauma on youth, and intentional and unintentional injury prevention concepts. Participants will develop skills of integrating this knowledge into a skill-based health education curriculum for K-12 students.

  • Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive 3 graduate credits from Castleton University.
Metayer, Lance

Lance has spent the last sixteen years working with youth and families who have been impacted by developmental trauma and chronic stress. Lance is currently the Team Leader of School Based Clinical Services at Northwestern Counseling and Support Services where he oversees a team of mental health clinicians providing therapy to children and adolescents in schools throughout Franklin and Grand Isle County.
