Intended Audience: Occupational therapists (OTs), speech language pathologists (SLPs), special educators, general educators, and others who work on teams to support K-12 neurodivergent learners.
The purpose of this workshop is to increase participants’ ability to recognize and understand self-regulation, and to practice using this new understanding while working collaboratively on teams that serve students. Participants will learn about sensory processing patterns and their effects on functional performance through an introduction to the Adult Sensory Profile - an assessment that measures sensory processing patterns in individuals. By gaining a personal understanding of self-regulation from their own sensory perspective, participants will be better able to recognize sensory patterns in others and learn how to engage in co-regulation processes.
Participants will:
· Practice experiential self-regulation exercises to better understand one’s own self regulation preferences;
· Explore use of somatic vocabulary, precise language, and shared vocabulary for confidently describing and posing questions about self-regulation processes to colleagues and students;
· Apply fundamental understanding of sensory differences and self-regulation to support student agency in voicing their sensory needs.
You will receive the Zoom link in a confirmation email a few days before the workshop. We must receive a payment or a purchase order from you prior to the event in order to give you access.
