Target Audience:Educational Leaders on a school or district/SU leadership team.
The landscape of a leader’s work in schools is often predominantly focused on managing the many systems within a school: supporting teachers in their design of curriculum, instruction, and assessment; engaging students to be successful; collaborating with families and the community; and reacting to unforeseen circumstances. Without clear structures and methods for self-inquiry, a leader can lose critical information about their own biases, beliefs, patterns and habits of mind that profoundly influence decisions and the resulting effectiveness of their schools. Changing our mindsets is a necessary precondition to changing our methods. Reflective practices provide leaders an effective way to grow professionally, meaningfully lead and support staff and faculty, and optimize the performance of our schools. This workshop series focuses on the science and art of reflective practices, including the rationales, obstacles, and advantages of dedicating time to examining our own actions, theories, emotions, mistakes and successes.
