Target Audience: New special educators, special educators new to Vermont, parent advocates, administrators, and AHS workers. This workshop will not cover content specific to Essential Early Education (EEE) providers.

This two-day workshop is designed for beginning special educators and special educators new to VT. We will review the special education process (K-21), support greater participant understanding of each step, and respond to questions that each step elicits.

Participants will build an understanding of:
· Criteria for determining disability and associated impact on learning
· Criteria for identifying evidence of adverse effect upon educational performance across basic skill areas
· Need for Special Education - what makes it 'special'?
· Determining present levels of educational and functional performance
· Accommodations and modifications - ensuring access to general education
· Service Delivery Models
· Data Collection
· Effective Meeting Facilitation Tips and Strategies

  • This is a two day live virtual workshop. Participants must attend both days. You will receive the Zoom link in a confirmation email a few days before the workshop. We must receive a payment or a purchase order from you prior to the workshop in order to give you access.
  • This virtual workshop series is best attended live, so that learning can occur in real-time with other participants. If the dates and times do not work for you, a recorded version of this event will be made available for a fee on our website.
