How can middle and high school special educators best support struggling learners in the age of Act 77? This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to assess your system’s practice in relation to current procedural guidance and effective models of implementation. John Spinney, Post-Secondary Transition Coordinator at the Vermont Agency of Education, will join the conversation.
Discussion topics will include:
- Service delivery models for collaborating and co-planning with classroom teachers to ensure access to general education instruction, as well as to provide meaningful specialized instruction that leads to functional independence;
- Designing special education programs that support the implementation of Act 77 (personalization, proficiency, and flexible pathways) and guidance regarding the development of quality transition plans; and
- Considerations for how to develop a comprehensive and effective multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) within a secondary setting.
