Drawing and Mixed Media Exploration

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, you are invited to explore new ways to express ideas, develop technical skills, and expand your artistic vision. You will experiment with traditional and non-traditional media, incorporating drawing, layering, texture, and surface enhancement processes. Techniques such as Suminagashi, ink, watercolor applications, and the use of experimental materials will be introduced to encourage creative discovery and personal expression.
Drawing inspiration from nature and still-life arrangements of natural objects, participants will study observation, composition, form, and value while also exploring imaginative and contemporary approaches to artmaking. Additional inspirational techniques, creative exercises, and guided projects will introduce new perspectives and help learners build confidence in their artistic practice.
- Materials: Materials will be supplied by the instructors, although participants are encouraged to bring their own drawing supplies. There will be a modest materials fee.
Carol DiPalo
Carol DiPalo and Christina DiMarco are seasoned and inspiring mixed media artists and educators. Their love and connection with nature are at the forefront of their creativity. Carol has worked for many communities and non-profits within the Hudson Valley where she played a major role in the conception and implementation of art programming. She is currently retired from the Arlington School District. Christina practices art therapy and continues to teach children and adults through classes offered by arts organizations and libraries focusing on paper marbling, drawing, painting, and bookmaking. Both instructors continue to make authentic, meaningful, and inspirational art
