Join us for a docent-led tour of the Albany Institute of History & Art, New York’s oldest museum, arranged by Diana Salsberg for our LLI members and spouses, and friends.
A bus will depart from the Vassar North Lot at 9:30 AM, travel to the museum, and return to campus at approximately 4:00 PM.
The museum houses one of the largest collections of Hudson River School paintings, including works by Thomas Cole, Frederic Church, Jasper Cropsey, Asher B. Durand, and Sarah Cole. During our visit, we will enjoy a guided tour of this collection and two other exhibits ("A Life in Bloom" by Julia McEntee Dillon and "Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist"). People wishing to view other works will have time to do some exploration on their own.
We will be able to get lunch at the NYS Plaza Food Court, or at one of the many nearby restaurants, before we board the bus back to campus.
The cost of the trip is $30 per person and includes museum admission, the docent-led tour, and round-trip bus transportation. Please note that the fee is non-refundable.
If you wish to have a non-member spouse, friend or family member join you, please email us at lli@vassar.edu with their names and your contact info (name, phone number, email). If there are spaces available after April 20, we will contact you so you can pay for your guests.
Space is limited to approximately 42 participants. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
