The Science Sampler has been offered every spring semester since the beginning of the
Vassar LLI. Each week a different member of the science faculty offers a lecture on a
topic of their choice. This spring the course will be a four-week course offered in the
second part of the semester.
April 11: Jeff Walker (Geology) - “Geological History of the Hudson Valley in Three Hyde
Park Hikes”
April 25: Fred Chromey (Astronomy) - “Are New Telescopes Revealing a New Universe?”
May 2: Hayley Affronti (Biology) - “What is Cancer?” 
May 9: Joseph Tanski and Rebecca Pollet (Chemistry) - A visit and tour of the
Professors’ laboratories in the Bridge for Laboratory Science Building.
