This course will explore the groundwork the Roosevelt administration laid for the civil rights
movement of the 1950s-1970s. Classes will cover the support of Black voters for Roosevelt in the 1932 election, the New Deal’s attempts at addressing racial inequality, the role of Black servicemen in W.W. II, and Eleanor Roosevelt’s continued efforts after the passing of President Roosevelt in 1945.
Jeffrey Urbin
Jeffrey Urbin has been the Roosevelt Presidential Library’s Education Director since 2001. He has won numerous local and national awards for his work in education.
