What is mathematics? In these lectures we will consider some elementary ideas that lead to
sometimes deep, always fun, mathematical ideas. No previous exposure is required beyond what we all learned in high school (not that you will have to remember).
John McCleary
John McCleary is retired from the Elizabeth Stillman Williams Chair of Mathematics at Vassar College where he taught for 44 years. He has written books and papers on mathematics, mostly in his specialties of algebraic topology and the history of mathematics.
