Elverhoj: The Arts and Crafts Colony at Milton-on-Hudson
Single Session Class | This course is completed
Elverhoj, "Hill of the Fairies" in Danish, was an arts and crafts colony along the Hudson River,
founded in 1912 by Danish American artists and craftsmen. The community excelled in jewelry, metalwork, painting, and textiles, with close ties to Vassar College. The course will include a presentation by William Rhoads and Leslie Melvin, authors of a recent book on Elverhoj. Following the presentation there will be a tour of the exhibition on the same topic in the Vassar College Library (Vassar recently acquired an Elverhoj Collection).
