3Thu-3A-5a: Wine Appreciation from Aglianico to Zinfandel
Class | Registration opens 1/27/25 10:00 AM
This course will help you understand and appreciate the wine industry and your own taste for wine. You will learn everything about the wine industry, from history, to farming, fermenting, bottling, marketing, and buying. The course will include understanding terroir and you will learn about different wine regions and grape varietals. Each class will include a list of different wines to taste. Don’t worry, there won’t be enough wine served that you can’t drive home after class. By the end of the class, you will have a better understanding of the kinds of wine that you like and how to match the different wine types to different kinds of food. The format will be a presentation and hands-on wine and food tasting—no preparation required. The class needs a minimum of 10, and there will be a $40 charge for the wine.
Shelly Lowenthal
My wife, Cheryl, and I have gone through a journey of wine discovery for the last 24 years. We have visited wineries in 5 continents and have tasted thousands of different wines and vintages. This journey and curiosity have given me the first-hand knowledge of the wine business, and an excellent palate to judge the quality of wine. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and first-hand experiences in order to make you a smarter buyer and to better enjoy the wine that you drink.
